Commissioning Custom Work

Interested in a commission? If you are looking for just the right piece to showcase a beautiful part of your home or other space, there is nothing more exciting than commissioning a one of a kind piece which is customized to your dream environment. I love to collaborate in this manner and am honored to help you achieve your unique vision.

Here is a summary of the process: If you order a commission piece, I will paint two pieces because this helps me keep the work fresh and intuitive. You/your client get to pick your favorite of the pieces. This helps guarantee you get something you absolutely love! Here’s how the process begins: We will set a color palette, dimensions, and surface (wood, canvas, paper), before I start. It is helpful to have photos of the space where the painting will hang, but it is not required. You can also choose 3-5 pieces of my previous work that resonates with you the most (also helpful but not required). This will help me narrow down the feeling and look you would like to achieve. Size and colors are important yet the feeling and mood is the most critical thing to be worked out and probably where I will spend the most time planning with you as it’s not always easy to put into words. Not to worry, if you cannot hone in on the suggested items above, I have a lot of other tricks up my sleeve to help you land on the right direction.

I will swatch out the palette colors in paint for you before I start. I will show you each piece when I am about 75% finished. That is also the point at which you or the client choose the one you love and that is the one I will complete based on our discussion and possible minor adjustments to reach your vision. A 60% nonrefundable deposit is due before I begin work, and the other 40% before delivery. The commission process takes approximately eight weeks, but can be completed faster if needed.
