I’ve been fascinated lately with creating luminosity and experimenting with color and value to create very different feelings rooted in a sense of place. These pieces very much speak to my Southern roots: The last bit of sun lighting a path, breezes that stir the branches to reveal that secret nook at the lake….. the glow of the phosphorus in the waters edging the Lowcountry marshland. The value contrast in these pieces showcases the mood and drama of the display. After all, most any Southern woman knows the right time to bring out the drama.
